In 2003, I left my mom and brother in Vancover, and flew (with a one night stopover in Toronto to do laundry and pack) to St. John’s to participate in the Shad Valley program at Memorial University. It was a great camp, and my interactions with geology Professor Hank Williams would later influence my decision to study Earth sciences in university.
Newfoundland was amazing, and I happily returned in 2004 with my mom and brother. We arrived for that year’s Royal Astronomical Society of Canada General Assembly, but stayed an extra week to sightsee. Newfoundland enchants many of its visitors, and Mike and I moved to St. John’s in 2009!
